Course summary

A-level Maths is a linear exam. The A level qualification will be taken at the end of the 2 years course. Students can study and sit the AS exams at the end of the first year and receive a freestanding qualification. As and A level students can be taught together for the first year. A level Mathematics provides the techniques in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus that form the fundamental building blocks of the subject. Year 12: Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Integration, Probability and statistical distribution, Binomial distribution, Kinematics, forces and Newton’s laws, Probability, Hypothesis testing, Vectors. Year 13: Algebra and functions, Trigonometry, Further differentiation and integration, Numerical methods, Differential equations, Kinematics, Sequences and series, Exponentials and logarithms, Hypothesis testing, Probability, Motion in 2 dimensions, Forces.

Entry requirements

Minimum a good grade 6 at GCSE in mathematics
