
Course outline This is a two year course leading to a qualification with the equivalence to one A level. The course consists of 50% examination units and 50% coursework. Examination units are: Media products and audiences (2 hours) – the aim of the unit is for you to develop your understanding of how different media institutions operate in order to create products that will appeal to specific target audiences. Pre-productions and planning (2 hours) - by completing this unit, you will understand the preproduction process that the creative media industry follows when creating a product. Coursework units are: • Create a media product • The creation of and use of sound in media • Plan and deliver a pitch for a media product • Create a personal media profile Course requirements A grade 4 in English or a Level 2 Pass in Creative iMedia. Next steps Students will develop professional and social skills through interaction with performers, clients and peers; as well as theoretical and technical knowledge and understanding to underpin these skills. This will allow their creativity and flair to be harnessed in the design and production of media products used within the industry. This will help students develop clear ideas about where they might like to take their career and what progression routes they’d like to follow. The course is assessed at 4 levels: Pass (16 UCAS points), Merit (32 UCAS points), Distinction (48 UCAS points) and Distinction* (56 UCAS points).
