The Extended Certificate is for learners who are interested in learning about the business sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in business-related subjects. Everyone taking this qualification will study three mandatory units. They are: ● Exploring the Business Environment ● Developing a Marketing Campaign ● Personal and Business Finance The optional units have been designed to support choices in progression to business courses in HE, and to link with relevant occupational areas. They cover content areas such as: ● human resources ● accounting ● marketing ● law
BTEC Nationals are assessed using a combination of internal assessments, which are set and marked by teachers, and external assessments which are set and marked by Pearson: • mandatory units have a combination of internal and external assessments • all optional units are internally assessed.
