This course builds on the abilities students will have developed at GCSE, progressing to close textual analysis, contextual awareness and critical appreciation.
Students wishing to pursue an A Level programme must, in all but exceptional circumstances, have achieved 6 standard GCSE passes (grade 4-9), with a strong pass (grade 5 or higher) in at least 4. Students should also attain the subject-specific minimum grades in subjects relevant to those to be studied Grade 5 in both English Literature and English Language.
80% examination/20% coursework
