This course is ideal for those who are particularly interested in mathematics, are highly competent with algebraic manipulation and are considering Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or Actuarial Science degrees. You will study topics in further pure mathematics and the applied areas of mechanics and discrete mathematics. Students will sit the AS examination at the end of one year and then the full A-level exam at the end of two years.
You will need GCSE Maths at grade 7 or above as part of a strong GCSE profile, and a graphical calculator which can be purchased from the College.
For the full A-Level, students sit three two-hour exams at the end of the second year: Paper 1: Pure Maths Paper 2: Pure Maths Paper 3: Mechanics and Discrete As well as this, students will be entered for AS-Level Further Maths at the end of Year 1: Paper 1: Pure Maths Paper 2: Mechanics and Discrete
