This course allows students a broad experience of the key business functions, and will allow students to focus on organisations that operate at local national and international levels. The range of topics also allows for students who are unsure of which pathway to follow into university an opportunity to sample other potential choices. This course will give you an understanding of all the main areas of business, from how they are set up and organised to how they manage their finances and motivate their workers. The topic areas on the specification are as follows: - Business objectives and strategic decisions - External influences facing businesses - Marketing and marketing strategies - Operational strategy - Human resources - Accounting and financial considerations Each exam focuses on a different context. The first will focus on small to medium-sized businesses, the second will examine businesses operating on a national scale and the final exam will examine businesses that operate on an international scale.
Grade 4 in English and Maths and an average GCSE points score of 4 and 4 in Business if taken.
There are three compulsory units in A level Business which will be completed at the end of Year 13 by way of three external exams. Each written paper is 2 hours in length and worth a 33.33% of the total A level.
