You will explore and analyse literature through Drama, Poetry and Prose. You will study ‘Death of a Salesman’ by Arthur Miller, ‘King Lear’ by William Shakespeare, a wide selection of poetry and ‘Tess of the D’Urbervilles’ by Thomas Hardy. You will also explore ‘Political and Social Protest Writing’ through ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ by Margaret Atwood, ‘The Kite Runner’ by Khaled Hosseini and ‘Songs of Innocence and Experience’ by William Blake. You will consider different contexts that novels and poetry are written in and how this impacts upon writers.
Students must have five 9-5 grades at GCSE with at least a grade 5 for English Literature.
