Further Mathematics is designed for those who are good at Mathematics and are looking to study Maths-related courses beyond A-Level. In Year 12 you will study further areas of Pure Mathematics such as: • Matrices. • Complex Numbers. You will also study two Applied areas out of Mechanics, Statistics and Decision Mathematics. In Year 13 you will continue with the same areas of Applied Mathematics and will also meet areas of Pure Mathematics such as: • Differential Equations. • Polar Coordinates. • Hyperbolic Functions.
Five GCSES at grades 9-5, which must include grade 9-5 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics. GCSE graded 9-8 in GCSE Mathematics.
A-Level assessment involves 3 x 2hr examination papers. Paper 1 and paper 2 on pure mathematics and paper 3 on applied mathematics.
