This is a synoptic course designed to identify global and local issues and how they affect the environment and people around us. Issues such as climate change, coastal erosion and management, rural regeneration, the growth of China and India, migration and natural hazards will all be covered. Students will understand some of the issues facing us today and in the future. There is also a great emphasis on interpreting data, maps, charts and images. By the end of the course students will be able to take these skills and use them effectively in the workplace or in further education.
Six GCSEs at Grade 5 or above including English GCSE at Grade 6 or above, Maths GCSE at Grade 5 or above and Science. It is expected that students have achieved a GCSE Grade 6 or above in Geography or History. There is also an opportunity for students who have not taken Geography to undertake this course.
