In Year 1 you will study the following units: 1 – Human lifespan development (exam) 2 – Working in Health and Social Care (exam) 5 – Meeting individual needs (coursework) 6 – Work experience in Health and Social Care (coursework) 7 – Principles of safe practice in Health and Social care (coursework) 8 – Promoting public health (coursework) In Year 2 you will take one further exam and externally assessed research project. You will also complete 5 other coursework-based units. You will gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment as a health or social care worker, or progress to degree level at university. The course looks in detail at the role of the health or social care worker, their relationship with patients/service users, and their responsibilities towards patients/service users and the wider health and social care sectors. It provides opportunities to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities, and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.
Minimum of five GCSE grades 9-4 (or A*-C) Including either English or Maths, OR Level 2 Vocational Programme at Merit or above (e.g. BTEC/NVQ/OCR National) PLUS three GCSEs 9-4 (or A*-C) including either English or Maths.
58% coursework, 42% exam. This is a two-year course where you will study 13 units over the full duration. 8 units are mandatory and 4 units are externally assessed consisting of 3 exams and 1 assessed research project.
