How to communicate clear, concise and logical arguments both on paper and in class discussions. An understanding of different historical interpretations of the past. An ability to analyse and evaluate source materials. An awareness of some of the key events of the 19th and twentieth century that helped shape the modern world. Someone with intellectual curiosity. Someone who enjoys debate and discussion. Someone who does not mind reading. Someone with enthusiasm for the past. While in the Sixth Form at Brigg, History will complement a number of other A Level subjects e.g. English, French and Geography, as well as providing an interesting contrast for students taking Sciences or Mathematics. It develops a range of skills that will be useful in Higher Education and in a number of professions e.g. Law, Management and Journalism.
