Course summary

Choosing a Modern Language at A-level is a wise decision if you want a fascinating subject that enhances your career prospects, offers you a range of career possibilities and is a lot of fun along the way. A-level MFL is interesting and varied and gives you a broad range of knowledge and skills. Building upon your existing knowledge gained at GCSE, it is stimulating, challenging and rewarding and gives you the skills required to become global citizens of the 21st century. - Through a wide variety of topics, you will develop the skills of speaking, listening, reading, writing and translation. - New grammar is learnt and existing grammatical knowledge is revisited and revised. - You will learn a variety of transferable skills such as communication, critical thinking, autonomy, resourcefulness, linguistic creativity and flexibility. But perhaps most importantly we hope to encourage you to fall in love with learning a modern language and provide you with a sound basis for further study, including a gap year with any degree.

Entry requirements

- (4 grade 4s or equivalent preferably including English or Maths).

How you'll be assessed

There are 3 examinations: Listening, reading, writing: 2h30, students have control of the recording (50% of A level) Writing: 2h, based on literary text/film studied (20% of A level) Speaking: 21-23 minutes, stimulus card and presentation & discussion of individual research task
