It is ideally suited to aspiring artists and designers seeking to expand and develop the creative and personal skills necessary to secure places to study at the degree level. The course is a broad and exciting Art and design programme. As a Foundation student, you will be involved in producing 2D, and 3D works including but not limited to drawing, textiles, printmaking, sculpture and experimental methodologies. You will receive a thorough preparation to enable you to make informed decisions about the area in which you might wish to specialise in the degree or other higher-level courses. You will be expected to produce contemporary and interesting works supported by academic engagement and self-reliance. There are three formal assessment points. Foundation students are also supported by in-depth tutorials, group and peer activities, workshops, external visits, lectures and seminars forming a comprehensive programme of guidance to ensure your success in applying for Higher Education.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, which must include English Language and Maths. Plus, a minimum of 2 A levels or equivalent Level 3 programmes. Learners aged 19 and older with an outstanding portfolio of artwork will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
