The French A Level course builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills gained at GCSE. It constitutes an integrated study with a focus on language, culture and society. It fosters a range of transferable skills, including communication, critical thinking and creativity, which are valuable to the individual and to society. This course is ideal if you enjoy communicating with other people, have a good memory, and find problem solving stimulating.
You will need eight GCSEs at grade 4 or above (including English Language and Maths). You will also need a Grade 6 or above in GCSE French. Other experience in French may be taken into account.
Assessment includes an oral examination and two written tasks including listening, reading, writing and translation.
