AAT is the world's leading professional membership body for accounting technicians, with over 100,000 members worldwide. The Level 2 AAT Certificate in Accounting is designed for those who wish to develop both the theoretical knowledge and the practical skills needed to pursue a successful career in accounting or progress on to further study. You will gain a broad and thorough introduction to accountancy whilst developing your skills in finance administration, double-entry bookkeeping, accounting software and purchase, sales and general ledgers. You will study the following: • Introduction to bookkeeping • Principles of bookkeeping controls • Principles of costing • The business environment
You must have achieved GCSEs at grade 4 or above (equivalent to grade C or above) in English and maths, or an equivalent qualification. All new applicants for an AAT course at St Helens College are required to undertake a centre devised numeracy and literacy assessment and attend an interview.
The course is assessed through computer-based assessments at the end of each unit. You will also undertake an end-of-year synoptic test once all units have been completed.
