Course summary

This course offers students the chance to further their studies of science which takes a different approach from the traditional A-level route. Our Applied Science course is aimed at students who are interested in Biology, Chemistry and Physics at a greater depth of study. This course includes a range of practical laboratory experience and academic study. To assist students in their studies and understanding of Science in the wider world, this course includes talks from industry professionals and visits to places of scientific interest and industry. COMPULSORY UNITS : • Principles and Applications of Science • Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques • Science Investigation Skills OPTIONAL UNITS (WE WILL CHOOSE ONE): • Physiology of the Human Body Systems • Human Regulation and Reproduction • Biological Molecules and Metabolic Pathways • Genetics and Genetic Engineering • Diseases and Infection • Applications of Inorganic Chemistry • Applications of Organic Molecules • Electrical Circuits and their Application • Astronomy and Space Science

Entry requirements

Five grade 5+ GCSE subjects For A Level subjects, students must have a grade 6+ in the relevant subjects Two science GCSEs at Grade 5. Grade 5 in both English and Maths is expected.
