It allows them to specialize in digital content for interactive media. Learners will develop specialist knowledge, understanding, and skills in their chosen area, to prepare them for employment in the digital media sector in job roles such as digital layout artists, assistant animators, production runners, and freelance crew. It could also provide a route to a higher education media-related program such as Digital Media, Media Production, Media Communications, Journalism, and Digital Marketing. The qualification is designed to be taken as part of a study program alongside other qualifications such as Business, English, Visual Art, or Theatre. The course consists of 12 units that will be taught over two years. The units are as follows: • Pre-production and planning • Creating a media product • Interactive media product • Comics and graphic novel storytelling • Create a digital animation • Cross Media Industry Awareness • Media products and audiences • Social media and globalization • Journalism and the news industry • Photography for digital media products • Advertising media • Plan and deliver a pitch for a media product The media plays a central role in contemporary society and culture. The global nature of contemporary media, coupled with ongoing technological developments and more opportunities to interact with the media, suggests that their centrality in contemporary life can only increase.
