Course summary

In line with the QCF philosophy, this programme is accessible to those working in the childcare sector and have some supervisory responsibilities. This qualification meets the needs of learners who work with children in a wide range of settings, for example in the roles of: • Early Years Educator • Child-minder • Nursery Nurse By working through the programme, your staff will be able to increase their knowledge and understanding of their role and identify new skills within a recognised national qualification. Units in the award include: • Promote partnership working with parents. • Model, promote and support positive behaviour with children. • Working in partnership with colleagues and other professionals in early years settings. • Plan and implement activities, play opportunities and educational programmes in an early years setting.

Entry requirements

Requirements to the programme. Functional Skills Level 2 in English and mathematics. Initial meeting to discuss the suitability of the qualification prior to enrolment. Learners should be in a 'key person' role and should be able to gather work-based evidence within paid employment.

How you'll be assessed

This course is delivered at the workplace by a qualified assessor. The assessor will visit the staff regularly to set work and help the candidate to complete the units needed for the award. Times for the visits will be arranged to suit the staff and assessor. The staff member proves they have achieved the award by gathering evidence with guidance from the assessor.
