Students can expect to develop their language skills and will gain huge insight and knowledge of the country and its culture. Lessons are varied, all happening in an encouraging, supportive, yet challenging environment, with experienced and highly qualified teaching staff. You will study a genuine literary work such as Albert Camus' 'L'Etranger', one of the great novels of the 20th century, and the work of a film director, principally Mathieu Kassovitz and his ground-breaking film 'La Haine'. Both of which will take your language to another level, as well as giving you an insight into two of the great masterpieces of modern social criticism. All students have the opportunity to take part in the French exchange to Lyon. You will also gain significant contact with native speakers in school through time spent with our French assistant and also through our partnership with Lancaster University's Erasmus scheme, with visiting foreign students pairing up with our students for conversation classes.
- 6 GCSE's Grade 6 and above - At least six grade 6s or better in the GCSE examinations plus a minimum of grade 5 in both English Language and Mathematics.
