This exciting course offers the opportunity to study a range of areas within the media industry. It is an extremely contemporary subject and allows students to combine practical production elements with the theoretical study of a wide range of media topics. The nature of this course provides an opportunity for individual interpretation of current media within the assessment parameters, thus permitting a dynamic and accessible course of study covering this rapidly growing subject area. You will develop both analytical and critical thinking skills throughout the course. You will be shown how to apply academic theory to a range of media texts and products. Learners will be shown how to decode meaning from a diverse range of historical and contemporary texts. You will also be shown production skills in print, digital and moving image platforms using the latest industry standard software.
● have a minimum GCSE/BTEC Total Point Score (TPS) of 32 (see below) ● meet the subject-specific entry criteria; ● have a full programme of study with 3 A Level courses or equivalent. The most able students have the option of studying a fourth subject. Grade 5 GCSE in English. If Media was taken at GCSE, a grade 5 is required.
