• UK Politics (democracy and participation; political parties; electoral systems; voting behavior and the media) Year 12. • UK Government (the constitution; parliament; Prime Minister and executive; relationships between the branches) Year 12. • Political ideas (Conservatism, Liberalism, Socialism, etc) Year 13. • US Government and Politics (the constitution, Congress, presidency, Supreme Court, democracy and participation) Year 13. Qualities Required: An interest in politics and current affairs along with the ability to write analytical and focused essays and a willingness to contribute to class debates and discussions.
Five GCSES at grades 9-5, which must include grade 9-5 in GCSE English Language and Mathematics. Grade 6 or above in a GCSE humanities subject or English.
For the AS qualification, students will sit 2 exams at the end of Year 12 covering UK Government and UK Politics. Both exams will require students to analyze and interpret political documents and data while also writing knowledge-based essays. Students who wish to take the full A level will sit 3 exams at the end of Year 13 covering all elements of the Core Content.
