This course is a brilliant course for individuals who have a keen interest in Health and Social Care and providing care and support for a range of different people. It is perfectly suited for pupils who are keen to study HSC at university or would like a career in the Health and Social Care Sector after their studies.
- We would expect all learners who are wanting to study this course to have achieved a Grade 5 or above in GCSE English as the vast majority of the course is assessed through extended pieces of writing in the form of coursework and examination units. - You must have achieved 5 passes including mathematics and English, where a pass is defined as GCSE 9-4 and pass or better at level 2 BTEC.
The National Extended Certificate in HSC is made up of 4 units of which 2 are externally assessed (examinations) by Pearson (1 each year) and 2 internally assessed (coursework) by the HSC department in school and moderated by the exam board. Students will be assessed every 6 weeks in line with our Praising Stars system in the Academy and this data will be shared with home. This will give us a clear indication of what level the student is working at and where and when specific intervention is needed.
