The course builds on the science covered at GCSE by further exploring quantitative and analytical chemistry as well as structure and bonding; the course also introduces more complex concepts such as organic chemistry and thermochemistry in Year 12.
Grade 6, 6 in Combined Science. If studying separate sciences then students must have grade 6 in at least two sciences including Chemistry. Students must also have grade 6 in Mathematics.
3 x 2-hour exams at the end of Year 13 (Physical and Inorganic Chemistry 37%, Organic Synthesis 37% and Synoptic 26%), plus a minimum of 12 required practicals. Successful completion will gain students a practical endorsement.
