This course is designed to consolidate the existing skills, knowledge and understanding of Art gained by students at Key Stage 4 and to offer them the opportunity to make a personal response to new experiences of a practical and conceptual nature. The components allow students opportunities to generate and develop ideas, research primary and contextual sources, record practical and written observations, experiment with media and processes, and refine ideas towards producing resolved outcome(s). This will involve: ● Developing ideas ● Exploring media, developing and applying skills ● Researching, recording, analysing and reviewing ● Creating and presenting outcome(s) Pupils will be exposed to various teaching approaches to harness their creativity, ranging from one to one Tutorials, Subject specific workshops & Extracurricular visits/learning experiences.
- GCSE Grade 6 or above in Art & Design and a Grade 5 or above in English. Students without the Art/English Grade will be considered at the department’s discretion, following a portfolio review request and interview with the Head of the Department. - The minimum general requirements for Sixth Form entry are a minimum of 5 GCSE Grade 4s including English and Maths.
Assessment is through personal artistic study plus a multi-disciplined written element. All work is externally moderated by the exam board.
