Course summary
The EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) is a stand-alone qualification, studied above and beyond A Levels. It carries the same UCAS weighting as an ‘old’ AS level with UCAS points attached to it, and it allows you to develop an essay or artifact around a topic of your choice. Undertaking an Extended Project can support your application to Higher Education by: • Reducing the level of an offer • Giving your application preference on highly selective courses over students who have not undertaken EPQ • Providing a focus on valued content within your statement • Providing a major focus for interview discussion • The EPQ is awarded UCAS points worth half an A-level and is recognized by universities and employers; some leading universities, such as Southampton University, make alternative offers to students undertaking an EPQ.
