Course summary

A Level Biology will give you an insight into the contemporary world of biology, covering a range of different contexts. This course combines academic challenge, relevant context and practical focus. You will learn about the impact biology has on research and many aspects of everyday life. You will learn to investigate and solve problems across a range of biological concepts. This course will also help to develop transferable skills including : investigative, problem solving, research, decision making, mathematical skills and analytical skills. Module 1: Development of practical skills in biology Module 2: Foundations in biology Module 3: Exchange and transport Module 4: Biodiversity, evolution and disease Module 5: Communication, homeostasis and energy Module 6: Genetics, evolution and ecosystems

Entry requirements

● Grade 6 in GCSE Biology and a Grade 6 in one other science OR Grade 66 in Combined Science ● Grade 5 GCSE Maths and English Language/Literature

How you'll be assessed

3 examination papers: 2 x 2 hours 15 minutes and 1 x 1 hour 30 minutes, taken at the end of the 2 year course. A wide range of question types including: multiple choice, short answer and extended response questions.
