Course summary

The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Applied Science are for students seeking an A-level standard science qualification who wish to continue their education through applied learning and who aim to progress to higher education or apprenticeships and ultimately employment in the applied science sector. Over 95% of universities (including Russell Group) and a wide range of employers highly value BTEC qualifications. Students will study across all three sciences: Biology, Chemistry and Physics covering topics including: fundamental chemical and physical principals, structure and function of cells, physiology and disease, electromagnetic waves and satellite communication amongst many other fascinating areas of cutting edge science. We offer the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Applied Science (single award, 1 A-level equivalent). This qualification is designed to be studied alongside two other Level 3 courses including BTECs and A-levels. The course is to be studied over 2 years.

Entry requirements

- Grade 5/5 in Science GCSE - Grade 5 in English Language GCSE - Grade 5 in Maths GCSE - A minimum of 4 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade 4 or above, and two GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade 5 or above.

Unit 1 Externally examined unit of 3 areas containing biology, chemistry and physics Unit 2 Internally assessed unit containing 4 chemistry-based assignments.
