The History Department offers AS and A-Level courses with the Edexcel examination board. Students will find the content and concepts explored throughout both courses to be stimulating, relevant, engaging and enjoyable. They will be equipped with the skills for either further study within Higher Education or employment.At both AS and A-Level, we offer a choice of either Modern History or Early Modern History. For students continuing to A-Level, one Early Modern unit and one Modern unit are offered, to provide a useful balance, whichever option has been followed previously. The Department runs a Sixth Form enrichment trip to Krakow, Poland every two years, to include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau. The next trip will run in October 2016.
- Five full course GCSE at Grade 6, in separate subjects at Grade 6 or higher (Core and Additional Science count as separate subjects. Short course GCSEs do not count towards the full course GCSE requirements). - Students should have a minimum of Grade 5 in both English Language and Mathematics. - Grade 6 or above in GCSE History and Grade 5 or above in English.
