Maths is such a vast subject with so many applications. Further Maths A-Level provides the opportunity to develop some of the concepts met in A-Level Maths as well as study a greater variety of applications. It attracts students who thoroughly enjoy the subject and are keen to extend their understanding and knowledge as it provides the chance to study some more demanding and abstract concepts. Further Maths is available as an AS Level (one-year course) or an A Level (two-year course). All students sit the AS exams at the end of Year 12 and then they have the choice of whether to continue the course into Year 13.
At least five 5s at GCSE, including at least a 7 in Maths (strongly advised to pick 4 subjects). NOTE: You must be studying A-Level Maths in order to study Further Maths. Have you considered studying a Mixed Programme (A-Levels and Btecs)? Whether you’re on target to achieve five 5s in your GCSEs or not there may still be an option to study A-Levels alongside a BTEC qualification at Newman.
