
English Literature is an ideal choice for anyone who loves reading and enjoys novels, plays and poetry. You will study an exciting variety of texts, writers and genres from different historical periods including more contemporary novels. Literature focuses on the big questions affecting human existence and we encourage you to share your own views on these topics. This course is relevant, engaging and highly regarded. You will read and study literature through the lens of genre and theory. It will encourage you to independently study texts and, through wider reading, your experience, knowledge and appreciation of literature will be extended. You will gain a solid understanding of how texts can be interpreted in multiple ways and you can arrive at your own interpretations as a confident and autonomous reader.

At the end of Year 13, two exams are taken and one non-exam assessment is entered.
