This advanced course, supported by NHS Trusts, Whiston Hospital and the Northwest Ambulance Service, combines work placements in settings such as specialist units, outpatient wards and care homes, with the theory in the classroom. If you are interested in a career within an allied health profession, this course could form part of a Cadetship. Our Health and Social Care alumna, Shannon, completed this course as part of a Cadetship and has since progressed to Edge Hill University to study Adult Nursing. During this course, you will cover the following units: - Empowerment in Health and Social Care - Protection of Young Children and Adults - Anatomy and Physiology - Research Skills for Health and Social care - Personal and Professional Development - Health Education - Nutrition - Dementia - Medication
You should have five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths. If you already have a grade 4 or above in English and/or maths but wish to achieve a higher grade, we can support you to do this alongside your course. You will also need a clear DBS to gain entry to this course. More information will be provided upon receipt of your application.* *A DBS costs £40 and can be claimed back once you have successfully completed this course.
You will be assessed through various methods including externally marked assignments, examinations, case studies, presentations, reflective diaries, group displays, and video and campaign work.
