In GCE Business you will study the way businesses are set up and are managed and consider the economic environment in which businesses operate. Business organizations are important to all economies because of the contribution they make to the creation of wealth and the satisfaction of human needs and wants. You will need to look inside the businesses to see how manager behavior affects the workforce and the levels of motivation. A Level Business expects you to examine a range of issues and problems and make decisions on the best course of action for a range of different business organizations The first year of the course focuses on the setting up and running of small businesses. You will learn about how to make ideas work – becoming an entrepreneur and all that involves such as raising finance, employing and motivating workers, marketing, setting budgets, and calculating profit In the second year you will focus on big businesses and develop a critical understanding of the objectives and strategies of these organizations. It is important to study how businesses operate in a competitive environment and in particular, how these businesses manage continual change in the global economy.
