Course summary

Would you like to gain an AS Level qualification by researching something you are passionate about? The EPQ allows you to embark on a largely self-directed project. By taking responsibility for the choice and design of your project you will also nurture several skills that are valued by both universities and employers. The Extended Project will develop and extend from one or more of your study areas and/or from an area of personal interest or activity outside your main programme of study. It will be based on a topic chosen by you and agreed upon by a supervising teacher. You will, with appropriate supervision, choose an area of interest and then draft a title and aims for the project. After approval, you will plan, research and carry out the project. Extended projects can take various forms, such as an extended essay, creative writing, the creation of an artefact or a performance-based activity.

Entry requirements

At least 38 points.

How you'll be assessed

Once your project is completed, you will deliver a presentation to a specified audience and provide evidence of all stages of project development and production for assessment. There is no examination.
