You will study 8 different units throughout the two years, giving you a broad understanding of biological sciences. Topics include: biological molecules, cells, and the immune system, exchange surfaces and mass transport, DNA and biodiversity, photosynthesis and respiration, how organisms respond to their environments, genetics, and finally the control of gene expression. Our course centre requirements for all courses are grade 4 or above in 5 subjects including GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics with a good attitude to learning. Course centre requirements + minimum 6 in biology / 6-6 in combined science with a 6 in maths and a 6 in English.
This course will be assessed through 3 written exams held at the end of the two-year course. There is also an additional practical endorsement, which is a pass/fail grade assessed by teachers during the 12 required practicals carried out over the two-year curriculum.
