Course summary

This course is designed to help you develop knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to the care sector. The Certificate is the first year of study for level 3 when successfully completed you will then enrol on the full Extended Diploma for your second year. Topics: Developing effective communication, equality, diversity and rights in health and social care, health safety and security in health and social care, development through the life stages, sociological perspectives and safeguarding adults are some of the units that may be covered in the qualification. You will also attend work placement for a minimum of one day per week.

Entry requirements

To enrol on the course you will require 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including Maths, English and Science. You may also hold a level 2 in the subject with a minimum of a Merit and level 1 Functional Skills Pass. A successful reference and a clear DBS (disclosure barring check) will be required.

How you'll be assessed

You will cover a range of units within the course, each will have an assignment for you to complete. Within the assignments, you will produce a range of evidence including posters, leaflets, written essays, and presentations. You will graded between A*-D for each assignment. You will also be required to complete 1 external assessment, this involves completing an assessment that is set and marked by Cache the awarding body.
