Students will learn different points of view on how we behave in our society - from what fashion we buy, to why some do better in school than others. We look at the causes and effects of poverty and why some people turn to crime and others do not. We consider how sociologists think and how they advise the government on law making and resolving social issues like decreasing the prison population. Students study the various elements of social theory and methodology applied to our chosen topics below. Students will be expected to follow the news to support their understanding of our society and global events.
A minimum of five GCSE passes at 4 and above including English and Maths. Additionally, at least a grade 5 in a Humanities based subject
