Course summary

‘What is the purpose of life?’ ‘What happens when you die?’ ‘Why would a god let evil exist?’ ‘How do we know what is right or wrong?’ These are philosophical and ethical questions many of us ask at times in our lives. If you enjoy debating these types of issues, trying to find solutions, and reading up on how previous deep thinkers have answered these questions, this is the course for you. You will develop clear thinking skills and learn how to construct well-reasoned, analytical arguments: skills that are essential in all future careers. It is also a creative course where you will get the chance to produce videos, give presentations, participate in debates, and create learning displays. What are the progression opportunities? A Level Philosophy and Ethics is an academic A Level highly regarded by universities and helps students to develop many key skills essential for higher education or the world of work. Students will embed transferable skills such as problem-solving, communication, tolerance, independence and teamwork.
