Course summary

With this course, we have a higher number of coursework units than some other qualifications due to having employers involved with creating and delivering some of the units. COURSE STRUCTURE & CONTENT First Year Unit Fundamentals of IT This unit gives you a sound understanding of the different IT technologies and practices that we all use. You will gain a solid understanding of hardware, networks, software, how businesses use IT, and the social effects of using computers and the information collected. This knowledge is also the basis for several industry qualifications such as Cisco IT Essentials. Global Information The purpose of this unit is to show how information in the public domain is used by us and businesses. We look at how organisations use internal and external sources of information. This unit is assessed by a mix of pre-release tasks and an exam. Second-Year Units: Coursework:- Mandatory: Application Design The world now relies on applications. In the unit you will take your ideas for new applications, design; present, and prototype them. This unit will be taught alongside the Web Design unit. You will gain many transferable skills; liaising with clients, presenting your ideas, collecting and analysing feedback. These skills are appropriate to a wide range of job roles needing development skills. Web Design and Prototyping Most organisations now use and need a website for a range of reasons. You will design and prototype your ideas and look at the security risks and how to minimise them. Examined Cyber Security Cyber security will enable you to gain knowledge and understanding of the range of threats, vulnerabilities and risks that impact on both individuals and organisations.
