The Cambridge Technical in Sport and Physical Activity has been developed to meet the changing needs of the sector and prepare students for the challenges they will face in Higher Education or employment. Designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, the Cambridge Technical in Sport and Physical Activity focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demand. Our students will practically apply their skills and knowledge in preparation for further study or the workplace. Our students will develop professional and social skills through interaction with performers, clients and teammates, as well as theoretical knowledge and understanding to underpin these skills. This will allow them to offer informed, practical advice and guidance to the people they’ll be working with. Students will consider the barriers to and the effects and benefits of sport and physical activity across all age ranges and social groups, so they can tailor their approach depending on the person or situation they are working with to ensure inclusivity. They will also learn how to work safely and effectively, protecting themselves and those they are working with from injury or harm. Students following the extended diploma route will also gain an understanding of how different businesses and organisations in the sports sector work.
Grade 4 in English at GCSE Level / BTEC Level 2 Sports Merit (if studied at KS4)
The majority of the qualification content will be internally assessed through centre-set assignments. External assessment in this qualification involves written examinations including case studies and scenarios related to the sport and physical activity sector which students will need to apply their knowledge and understanding to. External assessments will be set and marked by OCR; there will be two opportunities for students to take them, in January and June, so we can decide when they are ready to take their assessment.
