Students will have the opportunity to increase their knowledge and understanding of Physical Education and how the factors involved impact performance and participation. As well as the theoretical elements of the course students will have an opportunity to demonstrate their ability as a performer or coach but must understand this will be developed outside of the curriculum time. The theoretical content comprises the following elements: • Applied anatomy and physiology • Skill acquisition • Sport and society • Exercise physiology • Biomechanical movement • Sport psychology • Sport and society and the role of technology in physical activity and sport Plus, a performance analysis coursework project on their selected one practical activity as a coach or performer.
At least 5 subjects at grade 4-9/L2P-D* including: Grade 5 in GCSE PE Merit CNAT Sport
• Paper 1: Factors affecting participation - 2 hours - 35% of A level • Paper 2: Factors affecting optimal performance - 2 hours - 35% of A level • Non-exam Assessment: Practical performance - 30% of A level
