Course summary

Why study Geography? Are you curious about the world around you? Do you want to understand why people perceive the areas that they live in different ways? Do you enjoy learning about how natural processes change lives? If you have answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, then A Level Geography is for you! We study a wide variety of units at A Level. Topics build on the foundational skills gained at GCSE, whilst developing higher level analysis and writing skills useful in many vocations and undergraduate study. What will you study? Entry requirements

You will need an APS of 4.5+, with at least a 5 in Geography, Maths and English (Language or Literature). Skills and attributes: The ability to motivate yourself to work independently is essential for your success in Geography.

How you'll be assessed

Throughout the two years there will be termly assessments. At the end of Year 13, you will sit two written exams, one on physical geography, the other on human geography. Each exam paper is worth 40% of the A Level. Additionally, you will submit your independent investigation in the final year (20% of the A Level).
