Why should I choose this subject? • You enjoy Science but don’t want to specialise in one or two particular areas. • You like to know how your learning applies to real life situations. • You studied Applied Science at school and want to continue with it. • You enjoy practical work and want to develop your skills. • You want a subject where you can learn skills for the workplace. Learners study a variety of topics in all areas of Science. Topics include: • Principles of Science-knowledge and understanding of key topics in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The learning is the same as large parts of the Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Level courses. • Practical scientific procedures and techniques. • Investigative Science techniques
To enroll on the course you need to hold at least a grade 5-5 in GCSE Science or a distinction in either a BTEC First Certificate in Science or an OCR National Certificate in Science.
Each qualification is made up of a series of units. Different units are assessed in different ways. You will have to sit exams to complete some of the units whereas others are set and assessed by your teachers.
