Why should I choose this subject? • I am interested in all aspects of theatre from reading and watching productions through to performing, and directing. • I am creative and enjoy discussing ideas that can then be transferred to the stage. • I like working as part of a team in order to achieve positive outcomes. • I like researching and discovering new approaches to acting.
Level 2 BTEC Performing Arts is not a prerequisite for the Level 3 course but it would be beneficial if students have past experience of performing on a stage. Students who have studied BTEC Performing Arts and achieved a Level 2 Pass or better will be considered in the first instance. There are large amounts of extended writing in performing arts so you will need a grade 5 in English.
Each unit is assessed differently. Unit 1 requires an essay-style response based on research of a range of practitioners theories of acting. Practical evidence will be assessed in the form of your rehearsal process, final performance and communication with fellow cast members.
