The course is designed for students who want to know and understand how businesses operate. The delivery of the course is based around business and group activities which we run with help from local business partners. The course is delivered through four units of study and runs for two years.
The entry requirements for this course are 5 GCSEs at grades 4-9 (or BTEC equivalents).
Assessment is a combination of internal and external assessments. In year 1 there will be one internally assessed coursework unit and one externally assessed timed controlled assessment. In year 2 there is one internally assessed coursework unit and one examination. This is similar to BTEC Level 2 courses that you may have studied in school. Evidence for assessment includes portfolio work, research/written assignments, business presentations and video/observations of practical sessions. These are all graded at Pass, Merit and Distinction. All units are assessed individually and the final grade is an aggregate of the unit grades achieved in all of the units covered.
