Course summary

The Performing Arts Department at Studio Sixth is bespoke through the variety of ways in which it provides a curriculum that supports the growth and development of learners, from school student to young creative professional. Performing Arts support learners to become versatile professionals who can succeed within a demanding industry by bringing all aspects of the specialism together, through Acting, Dance and Musical Theatre. This vocational setting allows learners to access all areas of the curriculum and supports the enhancement of knowledge and experience of taking part in full scale performances throughout the academic year. The Performing Arts department promotes high aspirations for all our students, supporting them to progress during their time at Studio Sixth. Our aim is to design lessons that sustain curiosity and an eagerness to learn. The strong creative ethos allows students to develop their confidence, self-awareness and emotional intelligence to support in becoming life-long learners within all subjects. Students will be provided with transferable skills and tools to improve their learning in other subjects, thus enhancing their employability and skill when leaving or furthering their education.

Entry requirements

How you'll be assessed

The course consists of 13 units, 4 of which are externally assessed. A range of mandatory units consolidating the disciplines are delivered and assessed in the first year alongside specialised technique units. In the second year learners will acquire and develop new skills and knowledge related to audition preparation alongside applying your techniques to a range of performances leading up to your full scale musicals. Assessment methods range from practical performances through to controlled assessment preparation culminating in a written examination.
