The A Level course aims to develop a critical understanding of organisations, the markets they serve and the process of adding value. This involves consideration of the internal workings and management of organisations and, in particular, the process of decision-making in a dynamic external environment. We look at the inter-relationship between the four main functional areas of business and pay particular attention to the strategic decisions that each of the areas may take to contribute to the success of the whole business. Many subjects combine well with Business including Psychology, Law, IT, French, Mathematics, Media Studies, English, and Sociology.
A minimum of five passes at grade 5 or higher at GCSE, within these passes, there must be a grade 5 or higher in English Language or Literature and Maths. GCSE Business is not previously essential, but a minimum of grade 5 in GCSE English and Mathematics is required.
Three, 2-hour exams: • Paper 1: Marketing & Global Businesses • Paper 2: Business Activities & Strategies • Paper 3: Investigating Businesses
