AS and A Level PE includes the compulsory study of: Applied Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Biomechanical Movement, Skill Acquisition, Sports Psychology, Sport and Society and the Role of Technology in Physical Activity and Sport. Alongside this are the skills of PE which are examined via the Non-exam assessment (NEA) component on performance. Physical Education is studied though a range of different contexts. You will learn the reasons why some people out perform others. Delve into the ethical considerations behind the use of drugs, the influence modern technology has on physical activity and sport. Active involvement in physical activity in order to be successful in the application of all theoretical knowledge into a sporting context. You also need to be proficient in a sport or as a coach in order to gain an excellent NEA mark.

Non- Exam Assessment (NEA): One practical performance, as either a coach or a performer in an activity, plus one Performance Analysis task. (30%). Theory element: A total of four hours assessment split over three examination papers (2x 1 hour and 1x 2 hour) taken at the end of the two year course.
