Course summary

To stimulate interest and derive enjoyment and a sense of achievement from the study of Physics; to appreciate the way in which Physics is used in everyday life to solve practical problems and to develop the ability to use some of the main instruments and techniques of experimental Physics; to apply concepts to unfamiliar situations and to communicate scientific ideas logically and concisely.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE grades 9 - 5 with English Language 5 and Mathematics 5 AND a GCSE average points score of 5.5, from the top 8 GCSEs, taken in the first sitting. 65 Combined Science or 6 Physics AND 6 Maths. Not BTEC Science.

3 written papers Component 1 – 2 ¼ hours Component 2 – 2 hours Component 3 – 2 ¼ hours Practical Endorsement Throughout the 2 year course you will carry out 24 mandatory practical tasks. You will be assessed against 5 competencies and your teacher will decide whether you have met the required standard.
