The Economics course looks at how an economy works, from an individual market to a fully functioning country. It looks at the ‘flow of money’ within a country and the elements that influence that. We never use the term money and therefore have an ‘economic language’ of our own to express how it all works. The subject looks at prices, costs, inflation, income, exchange rates, taxation and jobseekers allowance to quote just a sample of the concepts used and modelled. Economics is a subject that is as old as time! Therefore, many of the markets still work in the way that the models teach us. This subject prepares you very well for the world of finance, business, banking and local or central government. However as it is a broad social science, it prepares students for many other fields of work.
The basic entry requirement to study at Manshead Sixth Form is for students to achieve five grade 5 or higher grades in five different subjects. These five subjects must include English and Maths. Grade 5 or higher in English and Maths
