Course summary

A Level Biology will give you an exciting insight into the contemporary world of biology. It covers the key concepts of Biology and the development of practical skills that are integrated throughout the course. Theoretical knowledge and the focus on current practical techniques will support your development as a future scientist. You will learn about the core concepts of Biology, many of which you will have encountered at GCSE, such as Cell Structure, Cell Cycle & Cancer, Homeostasis, Genetics, Photosynthesis and Respiration, but you will cover these in greater detail and have a wider understanding of how these key concepts link together to make the world around us.

Entry requirements

Grade 6 in Biology and Grade 5 in Maths

How you'll be assessed

100% external assessment Students also complete a practical endorsement in Biology that allows them to hone their practical skills in preparation for further study. The practical endorsement does not count towards the final grade, although you will be issued with a certificate to say you have reached the required standard.
